Abby Berkowitz, Early Childhood Director

Abby Berkowitz has been a dedicated educator at the Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School since 2009 and the Early Childhood Director since 2018. Throughout her tenure, she has taught various grades in the lower school and has taken on the role of directing all lower school drama productions. Before joining Mandel JDS, Abby served as a youth director and choreographer for local youth theaters in the Cleveland area and was the youth services supervisor at the Mandel Jewish Community Center. Abby holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ursuline College, with endorsements in Fourth and Fifth Grade, as well as Reading. Abby will be starting a Doctorate program in Jewish Early Childhood Education at American Jewish University in the Fall. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three children, engaging in creative pursuits, and experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen.
